Our Mission
PlugMatch.org was established to solve an ubiquitous, high-stress problem facing international travelers: understanding whether consumer electronics will function safely when plugged into foreign electrical outlets.
Most travel websites offer contradictory or dangerously oversimplified advice—frequently encouraging travelers to plug single-voltage high-wattage appliances into foreign 230V grids using passive shape adapters. PlugMatch.org provides unambiguous, engineering-verified guidance based on physical standards.
Our Data Methodology
All plug specifications, socket dimensions, nominal voltages, and grid frequencies on PlugMatch.org are rigorously cross-referenced against official publications from:
- International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC): Specifically standard IEC 60083 (Plugs and socket-outlets for domestic and similar general use).
- National Standards Organizations: Including the British Standards Institution (BS 1363), National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA), Deutsches Institut für Normung (DIN / Schuko), and Australian Standards (AS/NZS 3112).
- National Utility Operators: Verification of regional nominal voltages and transmission frequencies (such as Japan's 50Hz/60Hz split and Brazil's state-by-state voltage variances).
Editorial Independence
PlugMatch.org is fully independent. We are not owned by any adapter manufacturer, electronics brand, or travel agency. Our technical evaluations are written purely from an electrical engineering and consumer safety perspective.
